The Mechanical Turk is a wonderful innovation of Amazon. It connects those who want jobs to be done and those who want to do jobs for a certain amount of money. The main point of the Mechanical Turk is that you will choose to do certain HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks) in which you will get paid for.

Advantages of Mechanical Turk

1. You can work at home
2. Choose your own hours
3. Get bonuses for doing good work
4. Lots of easy brainless HITs

Disadvantages of Mechanical Turk

1. Paid only through Amazon Gift Certificate or deposited to a U.S. Bank Account
2. Some HITs are always pending and you don’t get credited (yet) for those HITs. Sometimes pending HITs reach more than 10,000!
3. No detailed breakdown of the HITs you made so you can’t see which HITs are still pending and which are approved.

HITs in Mechanical Turk include identifying if two items are different, creating blog posts, creating articles, tagging items, etc.
